What the hell is wrong with me?

Its been three months into this clinical thingy... I thought I might enjoy this... but I find myself not as hyped as the first day it started...

"find help from your friends" they say....hmm.... this is kinda hard... I guess here its proving to become a task... its different from my earlier days... I had friends I can work with.. ones that got my back when I have theirs...

"c'mon Farid, you need to finish this... Lemme help you"

"I have a problem, help me out please, what you dont understand I will teach later"

"stop messing around, this is serious. remember your targets"

"help me out here, I need patients, perhaps you can find some for yourself as well"

those constant reminders from day to day is a bit tad annoying yeas but I guess that is what I need... These small drives are what gets me working day to day during my years. I fail to see that nowadays. Its a matter of first come first serve.

I guess daddy taught me to be a give and take sort of person but here I am stuck in a "take all" environment....

LIFE

LIFE is like a music video at times... I think... When a new music video comes out, you get all excited... wanting to see over and over again. but as time flies and you see the same thing over and over again, you start to get bored... you then sometimes forget that first feeling you had watching it for the first time. Then all it needs sometime in the future is a remake, a revamp... And then you are reminded again...

my life is kind of that music video on repeat... each monday having to wake up and work... going home in the evenings, sleep, night time falls and in the morning it repeats itself again. Am I complaining? probably. but then again I just feel like I need a remix... A revamp you may call it... but hey... life goes on... I am thankful I get to breath and live another day...

on the other hand a dear friend of mine got his revamp.... its not on the good side I must say... but Allah has a plan for everybody I guess...

He was diagnosed with cancer not a while back... It was a wake up call for me... Cancer knows no age limit... He is a medical student and is expected to graduate shortly but due to chemo, he has to return home... imagine that... you grow up feeling fine than one day, planning for your future to become an excellent doctor and then....

He is currently on chemo back in Malaysia... everytime I think of him I pray Allah will lift his cancer away.. Insya-Allah.. I must make an effort to see him... because he taught me all kinds of things during our time together at KTT.

For those who think life is boring, think again... what would happen if your time in this world is timed....

Alright then, its been ages since I wrote anything here.. Quite sometime after Hari Raya Aidil Fitri I started my clinical years.

YEAS PEOPLE!!!! I MADE IT INTO THE CLINICAL YEARS!!

its tiring i guess... well... I guess...

So before I rant on I should really explain to you what clinicals are all about... we are the pioneer batch for what the Faculty calls it "inter-grated clinic"... the whole floor of the clinic is opened up and we are free to use the clinic as our own practice with supervision from the doctors and during this period of time we are to fulfill all our requirements... so in short if i have a single patient with multiple requirements, I can handle the patient from start to finish independently. this clinic excludes Oral Surgery, Radiology, pediatric dentistry, and Public Dental Health education.

so now that you are up to speed.. it looks all shimmy and cool huh? you get to play dentist!

but then again... the troubles the faculty fail to see are oh so many...

1. LACK OF CUBICLES
the faculty takes a total of more less 160 students per intake and about 130 manage to get into this inter-grated clinic as scheduled. the thing is... the work space (read: cubicles) provided do not add up to even a mere 80. and we have to technically fight for a cubicle every morning... please take note that not every cubicle is in good working condition... almost every unit is faulty...

2. DOCTORS ARE SUPPOSED TO TEACH THE STUDENTS RIGHT?
so it goes that when we enter the clinical phase that we are given all the knowledge beforehand and we just practice the theory we learned. but take not, we still need to be guided non-the-less... this is not what happens... instead, when the we fail to answer a theoretical question, they send us off and tell us to look for the answer.. now I do not mind if this is a method of teaching but this is done AS THE PATIENT IS WAITING TO BE TREATED. we are supposed to get approval from the doctors before we work. having to find the answer we let the patient wait... where are the ethics? it would be so much better if we are called after the patient is treated and discuss the theory...

3. ITS ALL ABOUT REQUIREMENTS
in the heat of things, we are so caught up in getting the signatures for the requirements that in the end its all about racing to get things done... we read the manual given, finish the job and thats it. its not about the passion to do it properly anymore. we dont learn as much to become a dentist.. its all about finishing on time... thats not learning... thats just labor...

4. NO PATIENTS, NO WORK.
thats the whole deal. some of us pack up and go home... cool eh?

well thats it for now... I guess some good will come out of this... this university is said to be world class... so they must know what they are doing ryte? am i ryte?

Lately duduk surabaya ni banyak dapat call dari bonda saya cakap slalu balik kampung... bila cite sal balik kampung ni... jadi rindu kat Atok... okke... emosi kejap...

tp time2 emosi ni slalu ingat masa skola rendah dulu... bila dah ingat time skolah, ingat jugak time atok time maghrib... sebab cucu-cucu mesti kumpulkan budak2 kat umah lepas smayang berjemaah ngan dia, dia SURUH MENGAJI!!!

KALAU SALAH LEBIH DARI TIGA KALI, TAK BOLEH BERALIH!! (masuk surah baru)

kumat-kamit nak baca supaya tak salah... amek ko... frust menonggeng baca penat2 pastu tak dapat beralih.... salah sapa? salah saya jugak tak practice...

tak salah, dulu tensen sbb tak dapat tgk Power Rangers sbb kene mengaji...

now dah besar panjang and dah khatam (ada lagi ke cucu-cucu atok yang blom khatam?)... atok pon dah jarang ajar mengaji... sedar atau tak masa zaman2 atok ajar mengaji ni, life flows exactly the way we want it to... I guess itu la sebabnya Quran ni kene baca tiap2 hari... dan bila atok ajar mengaji tiap2 maghrib kita secara tak sengaja ataupun ye dah baca Quran everyday...

Mama saya kalau call from Malaysia slalu ingatkan. "Baca Quran ke tak?"... sungguhpun mama saya digelar ustazah wannabe (haha.. sorry maaa) saya sedar kenapa dia slalu tanya camtu.... sbb atok dari dulu dah ajar kita untuk baca Quran tiap2 hari....

dan selalu yang saya ingat... kata2 atok setiap kali dia call... ayat dia lebih kurang lah...

"atok doakan sume ketigabelas cucu-cucu atok berjaya dengan cemerlang dalam bidang masing2"

knapa saya tetiba baik semacam ni? nak exam kot... ntah la... wsalam.... (:

The clock is ticking yeas... still... after countless pondering, the fact remains, I am set to become a dentist in the near future... So if everything flows well, I will get that degree I've been fighting for since 2007.... next semester, Insya-Allah, i will enter clinicals....

FUCK... AM I READY?

This is no mere task of failing or passing... this is about handling PEOPLE!!! and in the world of dentistry, your reputation depends on your work....

Most people complain of how tiring the job will be, but at the back of my mind, if I screw up, not only am I SOLELY held responsible, but at that instant I will be judge from every aspect of my education... is this right? Am I all set?

yeas... part three... so some of you wanted to know bout them monkeys eh??? I am getting there...

after chilling a moment by the beach and having sum fresh coconut, we bid farewell to Nusa Dua and headed out to the other side of the island... The locals in Bali suggested this place called Uluwatu... a monkey temple! This place is known for its naughty monkeys and the view... what view u ask??? THIS VIEW!!!!

This view can only be seen in ULUWATU my friends!!! it was stunning!! you know those travel commercials you see on teevee? this is the place to come and see it!!! After avoiding numerous monkeys that were trying to steal my stuff and hold them ransom for any food they can get, I w ent to the cliff sides and this greeted me!!!! Adnin and myself sat in silence.... Allah is Almighty... and ehem... it was a really really hot day in Bali so I took the chance to snap as much as I could from this magnificent scenery.. Atop the hills we met a couple that needed our help in snapping a photo... we chatted awhile and thank God they appreciated the fact that we were not locals... hahah... lovely Aussies.. sounding like a customs officer I asked their purpose of visit.. turns out they were actually working here... 6 months alreddy.. Damn... they are in Bali for a living!!! some people have all the fun!

So I tuck away the camera... thinking to myself, "if a monkey had an SLR for ransom no amount of bananas can cover the amount". On my way up the stairs to the temple, there was a pool for the monkeys to have fun... yeah... the monkeys have all the fun... damn... And what I feared most almost came true... A baby monkey went for the SLR... Snotty little brat! ur mama Spoiled you with material things... but since the brat acted all cute we decided to take a photo with it anyways... because my mama detaught me to be kind to AMINALS!!! hahaha...

Uluwatu had more to offer us when we were told to head to the surfers beach... there were 2 to choose from.. Since its our first time we just randomly selected... and we were lucky we made that choice... because it was fantastic! U gotta be askin, werent there babes in bikinis or lack there of??? well.. there were but i wont show you any photos of that since this is a family rated blog... upon reaching the beach, we had to go down thru a complex set of stairs.. and the spectacular beach lay in front of us...

we didnt go swimming cez well.. its a surfers beach and sure as hell I didnt know how to surf... so i sat there looking from far as the surfers surfed, fell and got back up again to ride the waves... I see a moral behind all this that I we all can apply in our lives but am not gonna go into that... I am on holiday... hahaha

so there you have it... the lovely ULUWATU... we packed up, got on our bikes and headed back to KUTA where I will tell about the happenings on the beach there... in my next post... stay tuned peeps!

So lets move on eh?

our visit to Tanah Lot was entertaining... A couple went up to us and asked "permisi pak, mw ambil foto di sini bisa?" (excuse me, can we take a picture here). After shifting aside we heard them say to each other....

haaa... abang! abang! tolong la amekkan gamba saya (or sumtin like that)

hoh... Malaysian rupenya, I guess I've been here to long and they can't tell where I came from... sedih... so after the sun set, adnin (yeas, thats his name. the boy u who u thought was better looking than me, yeah.. admit it you were thinking it) and myself headed back... Dinner was a pain to find... as a Muslim we need halal food and in Bali, they say even the pork is halal (my ass....)

we journeyed back to Kuta and yet again got LOST within Kuta itself... hahaha... history wasnt much of a thing for us so we just stopped by the bombing site and took a photo... errm... thats was that I guess.. haha
we circled around and passed by Bali's Hard Rock Cafe... being hati kering and low on budget we decided not to go inside cez who knows we might need whatever cash left in our wallets... so... all we did was (you guessed it) snap a couple more photos!

alrite... am just gonna skip to the next day aite? Waking up the next morning we felt much more like we owned Bali cez we we re as hell sure where we wanted to head off to... "NUSA DUA" we sed... then off on our bikes we went... and as usual, "WHERE THE HELL ARE WE"..... the sun in Bali was no joke my friends, it was BLAZING hot.... so spending a suffiecient amount on a bike was enuf to burn you...

Nusa dua greeted us with a monument... statue... or whatever it was... it was amazing! the sun gave us enough lighting for good photography (which was the real reason i went on this trip). the view at the beach was also marvelous! we didnt bring any spare clothes so well, swimming was not an option... besides, with Naddy's SLR in my hands ( I seriously need to think about buying one of these babies) I needed to be extra cautious.... so all the "beach-related" poses u can think of, well. .. we did it.. the jumping, the staring into the air, the depressed look, the thinking bout our future pose... consider it done!

hahaha.... will continue later... next is the story of us monkeying around at a monkey temple!

It was somewhere in January that my friend had the urge to travel... "jom la pegi Bali" he said... then he went on explaining why he had the urge and so on.... and u know what, I AGREED!

the plan took a few month to come together but by the end of April all was set... a three day two nights stay in Bali it was...

so on thursday night we got on one of those shuttles that provided transportation to Bali for cheap... Rp160k per person.... BUT... the ride lasted 12 loooooonggg hours.... and being HATI KERING we endured the journey... it was insanely fast and furious... there were times when we actually prayed for our lives... we stopped for a rest at Pasir Putih and the journey continued till we reached the port at Banyuwangi...

the ride on the ferry was a short one, since I had prior experience on this I didnt spend much time wandering about...

It was 8am when the shuttle dropped us at the Bali bombing site (more on that later). and there we were thinking "okeey... what now"

you see, we planned on how to get to Bali, but we didnt plan what to do once we got there.... lucky we met a helping Balinese who hooked us up with a mode of transportation and a place to stay... the hotel was shabby as hell but since it priced at Rp100k per night, we just sed yes!

we travelled using motorbikes people! yeas!!!

it was the best choice we made thus because the traffic in Bali was insane...

we circled KUTA beach for awhile and then we made a decision to head to TANAH LOT... now what happened next was mad because neither of us knew the way.. hahahah

being HATI KERING we stopped and asked when we felt we were heading the wrong way, till we finally reached Tanah Lot... the timing was perfect since it was only an hour before sunset... so long story short here are some pics to share...

Hello everyone… I haven’t blogged in ages… writers block….

(yeah right)

Time flew and this semester has come to a close. That quick I tell ya… seems like I am aging that quick as well… before this semester closes I have to attend a social service program to help the small village people (read: orang-orang kampung).

Hence I am placed in a small village called Wonoayu in the Sidoarjo district… it’s an hour and a halfs drive from the mother town (read: ibu kota… hahahah)

Which brings me to what I wanted to write about in the first place… Now I have lived in Surabaya for about 3 years… a city full of vast malls and people bustling here and there is a sight to see… you really have to be here to experience it. Sum ppl are rich, some ppl are poor, and some are just in the middle… but a few people a rich until they can renovate their house into sumting like this…

Before I arrived at this place, we saw a beautiful mosque standing amidst the houses. And since it was time to pray my friend and I decided to head to the mosque… more and that later… but we had a lil trouble finding the place since getting there required us to go thru narrow streets… cross bridges and such… upon crossing this particular bridge I saw and smelled sumthing that I never imagined existed….

Apparently the river we crossed functions as a filter that filters trash from the city before it heads to the beach… take a look for yourself at the amount of pollution this city faces…

NOTICE: the bubbles (according to my friend) are due to the reaction of chemicals. Fecal matter, urine and wat not.. these bubbles a floating around freely everywhere!! And look left and right, there are houses!!! Damn……

We moved on and eventually found the mosque nearby. Ablutions done, we decided to look around this mosque while waiting for the imam to come…

It got me thinking, why is this mosque located here? It was damn hard to find… and its not an appropriate place to put such a wonderful building…

macam2 lagi dance ada....but the one I like the most is tap dancing... I wud like to tap dance... but living here there is no opportunity to do so... malas jugak na mencari... haha...

so as I was saying... yeas... tap dance... one of the best part of tap dancing is to do it all together on stage... and thus came the RIVERDANCE!

I knew about river dance entah sejak bila... i would like to see it live one day but until then I just have to wait for an opportunity like that to come by... Oh Surabaya, make my dreams come true... puhleeeze!

these past few months have been about observing... I keep to myself, disregard what others do and sit quietly and watch... a new perspective is wat I got... if I look closely enough I can see what really lies underneath the people around me... be it my friends, colleagues or even family... silence is golden people say... I guess whoever said this was right cez I became rich... rich in a sense that I gained more knowledge of people...

sometimes friends only like us because of our money... when the fun is over, they get up and leave...

sometimes they call themselves a friend for their own benefit... thats most common...

sometimes we can give em all the advice in the world when they seek for it... only to find out they do the exact opposite...

sometimes they are hypocrites... well... most of the time really... a lil honesty hurts... but at least U stop living a lie and can move on...

sometimes people can be "kampung"... the stereotype is there because these ppl exist...

sometimes you become the center of attention by just talking loudly... cez u realize that looks and knowledge is what you lack (this ones meant for someone)

sometimes all they do is talk... when the fact is they aint done shit....

sometimes they respect u cez ur older... cez if u were their age, I guarantee they will cast U aside...

sometimes they don't realize (or refuse the fact) that what they have really belongs to someone else...

sometimes what they perceive as being right, is actually dead wrong in everybody's eyes...

sometimes they speak of religion, but they act like they lack there of...

oh well... i gotta admit, I do some of these things at a given time, but with all these people around me... I can better myself cez I dun wanna become any of that...

here's a funny story, I was chatting with a friend one day, nice person, we had a small conversation and after awhile I asked my friend if he/she had a blog since his/her english was magnificent! he/she told me that he/she didnt have one but he/she likes reading other peoples writings...

he/she: yeas.. I can't write as well as I speak...

me: so that makes you eerrr... a.... stalker???

he/she: erm... I guess so???

so I took a moment to let wat he/she sed sink in... by the way, the word "stalker" is used alot in my current study place... beats me, I do not know y... and yeas... I guess so... Isn't that why we have blogs??? for other people to read it??? stalking by definition means putting ur nose in other peoples business when the matter should be private... private here means kept to oneself...

BUT WHEN YOU PUT IT ON A BLOG....

you are putting it out for the world to read.... so why get angry when U feel like you're being stalked??? wasn't that the reason you put it on the internet??? the most unsafe place in the world??? the most public place ever??? and then you turn on the security settings so that you alone can read it...

hehe.... I heard this for the first time while I was driving back to KL from Shah Alam on the federal highway... the intro sounded like that of a car commercial... and now when I think back... ada la yg dah pernah gune untuk iklan keta...

now I am usually good at this song interpretation thingy but in this case, the music had me goin "hmm... no need lah... lagu dia dah best sangat..."everytime I dengar I can picture myself in an auditorium like the one below, singing to an empty room... the song has that effect on me... yeah!!!

so when I returned to Surabaya I made sure each day I put on this song to get it out of my system so I can get bored of it...

currently, I am 24, still studying, no stable income (mmg la... nama pon student), and another 3 years to go...

have I done much to change this? is success achievable at this rate? will there be enough time? are people tolerant enough to wait another 3 years?

so I guess at one point I have to start a new leaf, or better yet, improve the current leaf I have... will that one point be tomorrow? now? later?

at these times, only Allah with the help of everyone including myselfs' own prayers and efforts can help me.....

they sell this by the streets of Surabaya as early as 5am in the mornings almost everyday of the week.... I for one don't usually get up at this hour so I can pretty much assume this is a big convenience for the working folks o their way to work.

now I told you before they sell them all week... so here is the upside...

Iwas sick. my head was spinning and sumwhere after 4am I took a paracetamol... 2 hours later, still no improvement. now at that time I was living in a dormitory so sumwhere around 6am one of my dorm boys came back with a whole plastic bag full of....

U know the saying "GET A ROOM" or not??? they say room because its common sense not to bergomol in public....

Haha… tajuk syok je kan??? Well, that’s as simple as it is… refer to my previous entry and u will understand why…. During matriculation it was kelab remaja solo Kolej Teknologi Timur [KRSKTT], during my diplomas it was DAM association KUTPM [Duit, Awek, Makan]… in UNAIR itself there was the FKG curse.... I heard there was a name to the club but I did not remember…. After a few months I exited myself out of this club… New things to learn and to experience….

“Nadia, as our relationship goes, u will be my drive to succeed. The future holds much for us. We do not know what lies forward, but I hope this will last.”

And as all club members leave, we bid farewell and leave the game to the rest of the members to play it out…. GOOD LUCK!

Its that time again….

I miss my life back home… yeah it’s only been a month plus… why am I finding it so hard to even give this place a chance??? My parents say I was born with the ability to adapt to situations quickly… I am greatful yeas, but I failed to do so with this place….

Sacrifices will pay off…. I know… but being deprived of a “life” is hard…. The friends I have back home, the civilised conversations [AN ACTUAL SMART AND MATURE CHAT….], the simple activity of watching television I UNDERSTAND, the fact that I know life back home is not a repetition, not being treated as an outsider…. those are the things I miss….

told ya that my next entry would be from Malaysia.... yeay! it took me a week to rajinkan myself to blog... When ur back home, the words to describe it just cant seem to come by.... so I let the pictures do the talking...

bila kita pulang, antara mende2 yg best untuk dibuat ialah to enjoy high speed internet connection.... and that I did.... and it is even better when Ur cat joins U for the fun.... that there is Mika.... bebaru ni she joined the family.... she is reaaaaaaalllly gedik...

antara yang bes when I go home is togo to Giant at Section 13, Shah Alam.... bukan sbb na beli groceries, but to get this!

this is the hotplate U can find at the food court. priced at Rm5.50 with additional RM 1 for extra eggs. U can really layan this! especially bila dia tgh panas....

A drive around Bangsar would lead U to the best mamak in KL, bangsar village and a couple of other things [I tink la... I rasa ada la kot] but sumtimes I like to drive into this place...

riiiiiiiighht next to Bangsar village there is a Mosque by the name of Masjid Saidina Abu Bakar.... now u must be dying to ask, apa laaaa Imran Farid ni xde keje g masjid??? haha well... masjid ni sangat menenangkan jiwa tatkala emosi... I know, why not Masjid Negara? its much more beautiful.... yeah sure it is... but this masjid tho from the outside nampak macam biasa2 je, but the inside is........

I shot this angle by putting the camera on the carpet... So U can pretty much get a picture of how big this place is.... on the left and right of the mimbar stands 2 sheets with Surahs from the Quran... I do not know which cez it was soooo up high.... but the middle one I got....

hello... and yes what an odd topic for a blog entry.... so without further a due lets begin

Beauty and the beast

my friend Soya [yeah, we all call her that] gave me this 90s Disney cartoon since I was so stumped with nothing to do.... Well, the fact that I have my finals and remedials does not count... thats a responsibility... So I gave this cartoon one more try after having NOT watching it since my childhood days.... and.... it was wonderful!!!.... not trying to be a pansy here but when I watched it again with better understanding of the english language and a sound system to match the experience really was different...

oke... if from this point on U start to feel a lil nausea, its normal.... just shift to another page.... if not... just bare wit me....

this story had much to do with wat was going on with me.... well firstly I am really in need of a cleaning team to arrange my already-in-shambles house... If only cleaning objects can lift themselves up to clean my house that would be splendid.... oke... back to my point.... I rekindled an old friendship with an old friend of mine.... and needless to say, I resemble the beast being who I am and she.... well.... U get my point ryte??? and it got me thinking, being who I am is there any hope of being with a "Belle"??? I guess ying and yang do exist.... IF at all this happens in the future it will be a new experince for me.... so pray hard for me readers.... Insya-Allah~ and now my favourite topic.........

and there you have it.... In about two weeks from now I will be heading for my homeland.... this means the end of another pain-staking semester.....so forget all the hustle and bustles of being a dental student and lets focus on what I shud do for my holidays.... when I think of the situation given, my parents give me about RM 300 for motor fuel per month.... If I am lucky heres wat I wish to do.....

1. go to a decent beach
2. cameron highlands is a nice spot
3. have fun at genting
4. enjoy my time with the grandparents in Melaka
5. shah alam... ermmm no... thats already a must...

Bwt anak2 yang datang ke sini, ini berarti kalian peduli tentang masa depan kalian. Saya menulis blog ini adalah dengan niat untuk menyadarkan kalian tentang betapa seriusnya problem yang kita hadapi skarang.

Pertama-tama mari qta liat current issue yang kita hadapi skarang…

1. bagi anak2 yang tidak lulus yudisium secara otomatis tidak bs mengikuti anak2 lain di yudisium 2.

2. secara otomatis juga kalian harus mengulang sampe 1 TAHUN… hanya gara2 satu atau 2 matakuliah dalam semester yang sama, bener???

3. semester genap diadakan SP dan semester gasal diadakan UP dan nilai akhir dikeluarkan pas yudisium.

4. progsus telah dimansuhkan dari system qta.

5. bisa diadakan SP dengan syarat ada MINIMUM 10 ANAK

Membangkit soal yudisium, setau aq, angkatan qta diadakan yudisium karena mw mengikuti system pendidikan di Fakultas kedokteran (FK). Skarang mari qta liat perlaksanaan system yudisium menurut FK

1. pada setiap semester, diadakan Ujian Utama, nilai dikeluarkan. Kalo g lulus diikuti UP. Kalo g lulus juga UP anak2 bs ambil SP dengan kalo g salah maksimal 10 SKS.

2. siapa yang g lulus kesemua yang dinyatakan di atas, harus mengikuti PROGSUS bareng sama angkatan bawah.

3. setelah itu anak2 harus menjalani yudisium skali lagi.

Itu system yudisium. Naaah… skarang ada system yang dipanggil Open Semester di mana…

1. mahasiswa bebas memilih matakuliah yang diinginkan SESUAI JUMLAH SKS YANG DIIJINKAN

2. pada setiap semester SEMUA matakuliah dilaksanakan agar mahasiswa bs memilih

Naaah…. Skarang kita berbalik pada system FKG yang dikatakan ”kreatif” ini

Administrasi telah mengambil langkah yang pinter dengan mengkombinasi kan kedua2 sistem!

Oke... tidak mw menuding jari (biarpon qta tau sapa yang menguruskan....) aq mw jadikan diri sendiri sebagai contoh.... pada semester genap, namaq g kluar di papan kenytaan itu...

Aq g lulus

1. anatomi praktikum
2. farmako terapi 1
3. BO praktikum

Anatomi merupkan kuliah prasyarat... ini berarti secara otomatis di semester 5 aq g ambil

1. radiologi dental
2. Bedah Mulut 1

Dan gara2 BO praktikum aq g bs ambil BO praktikum 2.....

Sucks rite! I know....

Qta lanjut ke BO dulu.... nilai-nilai praktikum BO tidak diumumkan sampe pas yudisium bener??? Naaah... pas ngambil nilai baru aq tau nilai Bo-q D... alrite... lets proceed to the problem.

Andainya aq lulus anatomi ama farmako, aq g tau sama skali nilai BO daped D sampe pas yudisium... kalo diumumkan awal juga, PRAKTIKUM TIDAK BS SP.... dan seperti yang dinyatakan SEMESTER GASAL TIDAK ADA UP.... jadi aq tuh bingung.... mw g mw, aq tetep g lulus yudisium.... ngerti g???

Skarang lanjut ke anatomi.... bedah ada 3... BM 1,2 dan 3.... kalo g ambil bedah 1 ms bs ambik bedah 2 ato 3.... ini berarti aq harus ngulang anatomi dan ambil bedah mulut TAHUN DEPANNYA. Waduh... stress rek!

Persoalannya di sini....

Kalo mw melaksanakan yudisium, maka harus ada UP dan SP setiap semester... aq bertanya ke WADEK 1.... dia bilang ke aq, ”waktunya g nuntut kalo mw mengadakan semester pendek di semester gasal”.... apa problemnya siiih??? Ms g nuntut.... liburan kan ada sampe 1 bulan... in berlanjut ke soal mengapa setiap matakuliah harus ada 10 anak untuk dibuka matakuliah itu menjadi SP. ”oh... mw menggaji dosennya nanti sulit”

WHAT THE HELL???

Kalo g salah bukankan qta yang bayar uang untuk SP????

Kalo sistem yudisium tidak dilaksanakan maka harus ada OPEN SEMESTER. Setiap semester ada semua matakuliah... yang membatasinya adalah nilai SKS yg bisa diambil. Naaaah... setelah itu terserah anak itu mw blajar apa g.... blajar dong... harus... hahahah....

Here is the crisis... qta ke setiap dosen, dosen wali ato ke wadek... dia bilang km harus ketemu dokter yang satu itu…. Hahah... g mw nyebutin nama...

Bila ketemu dokter itu DIA G MW TRIMA USUL QTA... aq g bs bicara apa2....

So kalo aq mengetik panjang lebar juga masih tetep g dapat solusi...

JALAN TERBAIK???

Kita itu kompak meminta agar PROGSUS diadakan setiap semester.... persyarata progsus harus dibicarakan lagi... soalnya qta kan g pernah progsus.... jadi paling g progsus tidak mengganggu perkuliaha qta... plus bs ambil matakuliah yang dirasakan tertinggal... naah... kalo mw menetapkan syarat minimal 10 anak baru bs diadakan progsus......aq gpp..... apa kata kalian? Shall we at least try????

Psssst.... ini baru membahas soal kuliah loooo.... belum lagi diusul pendaftaran SKS online.... hahaha... dan adik kelasku malah bilang angkatan mereka pada semester depan ada UP dan SP....

of all my 23 years living, i finally decided that this is the way to go... doktor GIGI... the first 2 or 3 semesters was awfully dragging.... never thought I'd actually survive it.... barely.... but hey....

Alright… Salam AidilAdha to muslims worldwide… though it may be a LIIIITttle bit late I would like to extend my wish anyways… INSIGHTFUL.. is one word I would like to use for this celebration….

I.A.I.N.

….means Institusi Agama Islam Negeri…. Or so I think…. They invited us UNAIRians to help them slaughter their 13 lambs….Sadly less than 20 out of us 100++ students came. If they held a dinner at a Hotel I am sure we would dress up nicely and rush as fast as we could. FORGIVE US FOR BEING SOO HUMAN. Sure enuf when we came the slaughtering had been done… All we had to do was sort our meat from bone…. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE… and to prove that point, I cut my fingers twice…. Haha… Shitty internet connections would not allow me to upload pictures. So maybe next time I will make an entry just full of photos….

Good food and friends (new friends) made the day more meaningful. Lamb Curry, lamb satay and everything lamb was there for the eating… nice..

As the day ended, there came an advice from one of the brothers there… though I heard this many times, that day it touched my heart in a very different perspective…

my take on this: erm... it's funny coz at the end of this I still felt nothing.... I am a simple person... no means no and yes means yes... she is a nice girl... but somehow in the midst of it all she is confused.... I hope U learn from this experience... U are a dear friend to me none-the-less....

in seeking relationships, honesty is the best policy... when you start lying, the "ouh" word comes out and thats it..... sorry.......I say that because its the simple truth....

nothing in this world goes by without motive....

why it happens??? motive. What did you do that for??? motive. Cause of death??? motive.

simple really... what makes it hard??? the human mind that tends to forget and ignore.... Yes forgetting is what makes us human but when we ignore, that just makes us low.... very low.... even animals fulfill their motives... motive of reproduction is to continue life.... motive of hunting is to ensure they stay alive... So do not underestimate animals... [haahaa... going just a little bit to far folks]

So where am I going with this??? As a student learning in a profession that demands a lot, I must remind myself constantly on what motive I do what I do. Each day I wake up I must always remember, my motive of learning abroad is to take back with me knowledge that can be put to good use for the people back home. And if by all means I must struggle to do it, then so be it.

The best example I would like to follow is my dear Mother. People say, "U got it easy, Your parents are rich" or "Of course she knows, she is a dentist"

Dear friends, from your eyes it looks that way but me as her son, even as a little boy I saw the way she struggled day after day for four years abroad. Juggling with four kids she not only has to make time for studying but time for us... Waking up everyday in a foreign country with little to spare, she along with my dad made sure that while she fulfilled her motive she made sure we got to live our lives as normal kids, clothes on our backs, being able to socialize, being able to eat proper food.... and thus, four years later becoming the best at what she does.

Now don't you think she deserves the life she has now??? biarlah orang kata saya ni anak mak, I am damn proud. because things are different from my eyes.

so as I was saying. Motive. Never forget it. looking back, I must say, me being stressed??? complaining lots to read??? whining about so much work to do??? that is nothing compared to what my mother has been through. sometimes I wonder how frustrated they must be when they know I skip class, not being able to get those A's, wasting my time. Further more they are paying for me to learn. My apologies dear parents. I only need to buck up and start reading. So yeah, struggle, commit, do not whine, do whatever it takes. GET THERE, FULFILL YOUR MOTIVE.

I had a class on vital signs today... we had to learn how to take the patients blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate and weight... this is "according to Dr. Ecko" a crucial step to not cause any complications when a patient is going into surgery. haaa... it sounds like a death sentence.... but mainly most Doctors neglect such aspects... hence malpractice.... ingat... orang zaman skarang x sume bodoh... therefore we have to prepare ourselves with all the knowledge we can get...

oke2..enough being Dr. Phil... nanti kene panggil masuk Oprah Winfrey.... hahaha. Lecture vital signs was done by an Oral surgery doctor... and mind you... they are good at what they do... BUT.... masa lecture berjalan, Dr Ecko kept comparing his line of work to other dental specialties as being the best... in other words, bidang-bidang laen sume tidak sebest Oral surgery....

It happened repeatedly... and I sed to myself... no matter how professional you are... office politics akan sentiasa ada.... kalau masak kenduri kawen ke sure akan ada jugak budaya seperti ini... *ada kaitan ke???*... so we as humans need to elevate our tolerance and patience levels accordingly.... Agungnya Allah mencptakan hambaNya dengan akal fikiran yang memisahkan kita dan haiwan2 lain.... oke... Stop there lets not be the Guru Pitka....

So, being in Malaysia again truly has been a wonderful experience thus far... the luxuries of lazing at home and watching tv and wireless internet connection at my fingertips... and one day when I logged on to facebook I got an invitation to a break fast (buka puasa) dinner...

I was stunned by how grown-up they all looked.... 7 years can really change a person....

It was Maghrib... we all had our meals.... it was great... a buffet of mixtures of food lay before us from western to the good ol char kuey teow...

but the food wasn't even half the fun... I took my time to do a lil catching up.... pretty much the conversation, though interesting revolved around these topics....

well.... rabu semalam agak mentensenkan.... tapi mujur ada happy ending.... hahaha

Saya sangat teruja memikirkan yang saya akan pulang ke tanah air jumaat nanti.... dapat tiket murah.... yeas! So today I took the time untuk menghabiskan urusan2 yang vital untuk balik. this means immigration and flight tickets.... immigration business over I went to print my ticket.... now here is the best part... in order to print the tickets aku kene pergi office Malaysian Airlines (hohoh... bangga kejap) and after searching online it sed that office dia di Surabaya terletak di Hyatt Regency Hotel jalan Basuki Rachmat....

I figured I knew this place since ada mall fave student Malaysia called tunjungan plaza.... so off I went.. I turun kat Basuki Rachmat... thing is I didn't see a Hyatt.... I dunno wat made me so patient that day but I searched for the hotel on foot. I passed a hotel Bumi Surabaya, a Dunkin DOnuts, till i reached restoran Dapur Desa... I sumhow felt that I missed sumthing.... so I asked the staff at Dapur Desa where Hyatt was.... they told me to go to the tallest white building in sight... so I went back passed Dunkin Donuts and Hotel Bumi Surabaya.... oh lupa.... jarak antara 2 tempat ni jauh kalau jalan kaki.... after passing Bumi Surabaya I saw the white building but no way of getting there....

I then walked a bit further till I decided to ask for directions again.... terasa macam Salesman, I asked randomly to a bunch of men.... they seemed like they were on a lunch break....

"OUH... HYATT REGENCY IS BACK THAT WAY (the way I came from) "

I x puas hati.... I asked

"but all I saw was Hotel Bumi Surabaya"

and the men giggled

"hahaha.... Hotel Bumi Surabya IS Hyatt Regency"

After a brief pause -- Daddy says

'But honey, you haven't got an Uncle Paul.'

'Oh yes I do, and he's upstairs in the room with Mommy, Right now..'

Brief Pause.

'Uh, okay then, this is what I want you to do. Put the phone down on the table, run upstairs And knock on the bedroom door and shout to Mommy That Daddy's car just pulled into the driveway.'

'Okay, Daddy, Just a minute.'

A few minutes later The little girl comes back to the phone.

'I did it, Daddy.'

'And what happened, honey?'

'Well, Mommy got all scared, jumped out of bed with no clothes on and ran around screaming.

located beside the marine museum

I only go to this mall for 4 things

j.co, hoka-hoka bento, a&w and Dvd's

yes.. it is obvious the three reasons are mainly for food.....

but the dvd's are usually my sole intention of going there

thing is... they sell dvd's of live concerts by various artists

at a very cheap price, I can get my hands on these rare dvd concerts. I buy at least one every visit

yeap... short sems began... not that many classes... 3 days a week... so on the other days I dun sleep much at nights... izzit bad??? or izzit INSOMNIA (ada bunyi petir dan kilat)... haha... well... sleep deprevation is not good you see....

My second night in solitude... it is at times like these when its good to do some thinking.... A LOT of thinking.... one question came to mind....

okey... lets move on....

i was happily listening to Zee Avi's - Kantoi tonight [thanx berry much asmaa] when suddenly Soffie came into the house to gimmie an invitation letter... this munday is Isra' Mi'raj and the malay community here will be having a lil get-together....

Apparently the event will be held at a juniors house.... this means we as seniors dunno where the house is... so... the event managers made a map to show us all where to go... as a result this was attached to the invitation letter.....

yeah... i circled it...

ONE DAY

i heard rumours spreading that there was a roti canai place in Surabaya.... I am not one to belivein rumours but this was sooo irresistable i had to look into it... after much waiting for a team (predicted a long trip would mean taxi fares are expensive) we finally reached the place... Lucky fer us the Taxi driver knew the place....

It was a regular nasi padang place.... u knoe... like a small stall... hehe

well... my team (5 others) and i really got lucky that night as there was only 4 roti canai's left... and so we took whatever was left.... turns out, one portion had 2 roti canai's in it!!! On top of that we decided to throw in some martabak (yes... the spelling is like that over here...)

just look at that curry....

we were all skeptic... "mesti x brapa jadi macam Malaysia punya"...

we were wrong

as soon as the Canai's touched our taste buds, everyone at the table was saying "uummmmm SEDAPNYEEEEE...."

who am I to resist this???

haha... yes... the curry was just like the the local mamak stall curry...

see.... dip it... dip it....

in short it was just right... heheh. And within moments...

ALHAMDULILLAH.... it was fun to escape the clutches of Tempe penyet...

Last saturday I recieved a phone call from Yasmin, "hey farid, i wanna record a song tomorrow". I just got outta bed thinking "yeah... x sempat kot..." and forgot that the conversation ever took place

Sunday morning, another phone call woke me up... It was Adam this time... "okay farid.. i booked the recording studio tonight. I'll drop by ur house to give u a demo on the song later"

WTF???

Dorg memang tak main-main rupenye... herk....

Long story short, We reached the studio around 7.45pm... i thught to myself "hmm... mantap lah... tengok la dulu cara Adam wat camne" And then the techy guy in the studio sed "okey, lagunya gimana??" without warning Adam sed, "Okay Farid, Rhythm dulu terus record okey"

WTF???? aku dulu???

okey.... Playing guitar was hard enough for me as it is... I can only play a guitar to save my life... now i had to do it in front of this techy guy following the cue of a metronome!!!! "On the ninth count, you start playing okay...."

Nasib bek aku ni rhythm player, I only had to shift between 4 notes... hehehe... but lemme tell you sumtin, playing with the metronome is HARD!!!!! and i never knew song recording was such a tiring process.... i finished playing the song with minor flaws thankfully... all I had to do was replay the wrong parts and cover it up...

And it did not stop there, "OKay then, how bout we make it so that the rhythm sounds like 2 guitars playing simultaneously? can you play another round?"

again, WTF????

DUSH!!!

But the recording experience was new and exciting.... the guy editing our music was using ProTools, same software used by Linkin Park fer their music. After myself, Adam had to fill in the rhythm with his melody. This was finished with Yasmin's vocals.....

mixing is done in Three days... can't wait~
